Recruitment Thailand

Teaching the Unreached

God is using Christian education in Thailand to build His kingdom. As Christian schools are built up, an atmosphere of Jesus’ love and grace is established.

“My ancestors are Chinese Thai, and I have been taught that the way is ancestral worship, but I wonder if there is another way.”

“How many times do I have to be reborn after this life; when will it end?"

“Teacher Heather, are ghosts real? Will they haunt me? I'm so scared - does Jesus have power over ghosts?"

"Teacher Heather, I have questions! I believe in God in my heart, I think I'm a Christian! But my family follows Buddhism. What do I do?"

These are all snippets of a few conversations I have had with students during my last four years of working at Christian international schools. These students are from middle-upper class families and about 95% are from Thai Buddhist families. Because these students’ families are excited for them to learn English, they are happy to send them to a Christian school where they know that their children will hear about Jesus. Word has also gotten out that the teachers really care for and love the students well.

God is planting seeds in hearts, and a number of students expressed faith in Jesus this past year in their homeroom classes. This next school year, our family is going to have an opportunity to disciple some of these students in a 4th-6th grade Boys Bible Club at our home. Not only are students impacted, but in recent years a few staff members and parents have come to faith.

Few times in our lives are as formative as childhood. Thailand is a rapidly developing country full of opportunity for these leaders of tomorrow. However, one opportunity they lack is easy access to the transformative power of the gospel. While the spread of the gospel is completely legal in Thailand, the number of Evangelical believers is thought to be approximately 0.65%!

God is using Christian education in Thailand to build His kingdom. As Christian schools are built up, an atmosphere of Jesus’ love and grace is established. Students and non-Christian staff directly hear the Gospel (often for the first time). Bridges for natural relationships with Buddhist families are established. Other missionaries and Christian workers are drawn to the city as Christian workers are not keen to come unless there is a non-Buddhist schooling option for their kids.

Come join the work; reach the lost and be a part of transforming a nation from your classroom!
