A Calling of the Church

The call to cross-cultural ministry involves individuals, families, churches, and mission organizations. Entering the mission field is a significant step, and no one walks that path alone.

This journey is part of God’s calling, lived out in love and obedience. The church, along with mission organizations like Avant Ministries, participates in God’s mission by walking alongside, sending, and supporting those who are sent. This calling belongs to all of us—both those who go and those who send.

Those preparing to go need support in many ways. One of the most important is prayer. It is something all of us can do, no matter where we are.

Let’s pray for our missionaries:

• For a deep faith and confidence in God’s call to serve cross-culturally, that they would grow in their knowledge of God and find joy in His presence. Pray that their relationship with Him would be the foundation of their life and ministry.
• For financial provision, both as they prepare to go and as they serve. May the church embrace its role in making disciples of all nations by sending and supporting those God calls.
• For paperwork, logistics, and every step involved in moving to another country. These processes are often complex and time-consuming. Pray for wisdom, favor, and patience along the way.
• For courage and encouragement—for those who go and for those who stay behind: family, friends, and church. May God give peace, joy, and strength in the midst of goodbyes and being separated by long distance.
• For emotional, mental, and relational health as they adjust to a new culture. Pray that God would provide meaningful relationships—people who offer support, encouragement, and friendship.
• For bold and faithful gospel witness through both words and actions. May the message be clear, culturally sensitive, and rooted in Scripture. Pray that those who hear the gospel would respond in faith.
