France: Cafe for Connection
France is a country marked by secularism, where religious expression is often private and faith conversations can seem inappropriate. Though Catholicism once shaped the culture, it now holds little relevance in daily life, and evangelical believers make up less than 2% of the population. Yet beneath the surface, many are searching for meaning and spirituality—often turning to Eastern religions or new age philosophies rather than Christ.
In this context, spiritual dialogue happens best through trusted relationships—over coffee, meals, or shared activities. That’s why “third spaces” are so vital in France: public, neutral places where people can connect, ask questions, and have honest conversations.
This project seeks to establish a volunteer-run, non-profit neighborhood café that offers coffee, baked goods, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. More than just a café, it will host activities like English conversation, creative workshops, live music, and Bible studies—creating natural opportunities for connection and faith dialogue.
At its heart is intentional presence. Volunteers will embody Christ’s love through listening, service, and hospitality—offering both direct and subtle expressions of the gospel so that visitors can experience Jesus and authentic community.
Led by one of our missionaries in partnership with local churches, the Café aims to see lives changed by the gospel, neighborhoods strengthened by community, and the church reaching new spaces.
Your gift will help make this vision a reality—providing resources to rent and establish the café, and opening the door for people in France to encounter the hope of Jesus.
